U.S. MARKET ANALYSIS: MRO Products 2003

Confirming the obvious for many distributors, the consumption of MRO products shrank significantly in the U.S. over the past year, according to the annual MDM/IMI MRO Total Market Analysis. The U.S. market for the 128 MRO industrial products groups is $383.9 billion in 2003, down 8.2% from last year's study.


Estimates are based on data compiled by Industrial Market Information, Minneapolis, MN, and analyzed by MDM. See p. 12 for a listing of the 128 products used in this survey.


This year, for the first time, in addition to gauging the total MRO market, two aggregate subgroups have been measured. Manufacturing & Utilities sectors consumed $200.2 billion in MRO products across these 128 product groups, while Construction & Mining consumed $80.6 billion in these MRO products. ...
