October 2005 sales of merchant wholesalers, except manufacturers' sales branches and offices, after adjustment for seasonal variations and trading-day differences but not for price changes, were $314.9 billion, up 1.2 percent from the revised September level and were up 10.7 percent from the October 2004 level. October sales of durable goods increased 1.9 percent from last month and were up 9.0 percent from a year ago. Sales of metals and minerals, except petroleum increased 5.7 percent from last month and furniture and home furnishings were up 4.4 percent. October sales of nondurable goods increased 0.5 percent from last month and were up 12.5 percent from last year.
