The Power Transmission Distributors Association (PTDA) released the October trend data for distributors and manufacturers of power transmission/motion control (PT/MC) products. In October, U.S. distributors' year-to-date sales of PT/MC products decreased 1.7% as compared to sales for January through October in 2001. Sales rose 3.9% over the previous month and increased 3.7% as compared to October 2001. Days sales in accounts receivables fell 1.8% over September 2002 and declined 1.3% as compared to the same month last year. Annualized inventory turnover in October was 4.5 turns, compared to 4.1 turns in 2001. The confidence level of U.S. distributors dropped to 4.7 on a 10-point scale.
