turnover in April was 4.2 turns, compared to 4.2 turns in 2002. For April, the confidence level of U.S. distributors rose
to 5.0 on a 10-point scale.
Canadian distributors' year-to-date sales of PT/MC products were up 17.0 percent as compared
to sales for January through April in 2002. Sales increased 0.5 percent over the previous month and climbed 15.5 percent as
compared to April 2002.
Days sales in accounts receivables fell 2.9 percent over March 2003 but grew 4.7 percent as
compared to the same month last year. Annualized inventory turnover in April was 5.7 turns, compared to 4.3 turns in 2002.
For April, the confidence level of Canadian distributors remained flat at 5.3 on a 10-point scale.
In April, U.S. manufacturers'
year-to-date sales of PT/MC products decreased 9.8 percent as compared to sales for January through April in 2002. Sales were
down 10.6 percent over the previous month and declined 12.9 percent as compared to April 2002. As compared to March, sales
of standard industrial motors and shaft couplings were up. Sales of mounted bearings, unmounted bearings, variable speed drives,
positioning systems/linear motion products, gear products, mechanical drive systems and other PT products, and clutches and
brakes dropped.
Year-to-date orders of PT/MC products from U.S. manufacturers shrunk 10.5 percent as compared to 2002.
April orders decreased 7.3 percent over March and decreased 17.6 percent as compared to April 2002. Annualized inventory turnover
in April was 4.9 turns, compared to 5.7 turns in 2002. For April, the confidence level of U.S. manufacturers fell to 5.2 on
a 10-point scale.
Canadian manufacturers' year-to-date sales of PT/MC products increased 4.0 percent as compared to
sales for January through April in 2002. Sales decreased 7.2 percent over the previous month and fell 1.9 percent as compared
to April 2002. As compared to March, sales of gear products grew. Sales of mounted bearings, unmounted bearings, variable
speed drives, mechanical drive systems and other PT products, clutches and brakes, and shaft couplings were down. For April,
the confidence level of Canadian manufacturers dropped to 5.0 on a 10-point scale.
