The Timken Company, Canton, OH, announced a strategic reorganization of its Aerospace and Super Precision business. Donna Demerling, president, Aerospace and Super Precision said, "The new organization better aligns our businesses with market opportunities and brings a sharper customer focus within those markets. The newly appointed team will be the driving force in achieving our aerospace and super precision growth goals for 2002 and beyond."

"Consistent with the transformation of The Timken Company to a global enterprise, the realignment of Timken Aerospace and Super Precision reflects a more global approach to manufacturing, sourcing, engineering, and sales and marketing," Ms. Demerling said. "We'll accomplish this in a way that enhances the superior product quality and customer service that are Timken Company hallmarks."

The new structure establishes four integrated global businesses, which will enable more rapid response to new business opportunities worldwide and strengthen the interactions with customers. The four global organizations are: Aerospace OE, Aerospace MRO, Dental and Super Precision.

Aerospace OE, based in Lebanon, New Hampshire, will provide products and services to original equipment manufacturers of jet engines, landing gear, gearboxes, missile guidance, fuel injection and other aircraft systems and will be led by Vice President James R. (Ron) Menning.

Aerospace MRO, led by General Manager Richard C. Johns, will provide maintenance, repair and overhaul services for aircraft bearings and related components and supply FAA-approved parts to the aerospace aftermarket. The unit will be based in Lebanon.

Dental, based in Keene, New Hampshire and led by General Manager Fiona M. Collins, will provide dental products including the repair of handpieces, precision bearings and related components to dental customers worldwide. In addition to sales and marketing, Ms. Collins also will have responsibility for global dental repair operations.

Super Precision, based in Keene and led by General Manager Donald C. LeRoy, will provide miniature bearings and precision assemblies, to a broad range of industries, including robotics, medical equipment and semiconductor manufacturing.

Robert D. Arbogast has been named vice president - operations, responsible for worldwide manufacturing and global sourcing. This integration will align manufacturing more closely with global sourcing and increase opportunities to reduce costs. Capturing synergies across manufacturing operations will be a priority.

Gary Kenmir, vice president - aerospace and super precision - Europe, will focus on growing Timken's presence in the original-equipment and aftermarkets in Europe while continuing to be responsible for European operations. He will concentrate on increasing sales and marketing activities in Europe.

Richard A. Knepper, director of technology, will assume responsibility for customer engineering in addition to technology development. The integration of these functions will strengthen the development of new technologies and increase support for engineering applications.

John D. Breen has been named vice president-business development and controller. Reporting to him will be Peter F. Mangan, assistant controller, and Kenneth A. Stewart, general manager - business development, a newly created position. Business development will focus on seeking affiliations, joint ventures and acquisitions to drive the rapid growth of Timken Aerospace and Super Precision.
