Arrow Electronics Sales Jump 36% in Second Quarter

Profit for the provider of electronic components and enterprise computing solutions was $116.2 million.

Arrow Electronics, Inc. (NYSE: ARW), Melville, NY, reported sales for the second quarter were $4.61 billion, an increase of 36 percent over the same period a year ago. Profit was $116.2 million, compared to profit on $21.1 million in second quarter 2009.

"This was another outstanding quarter for Arrow, as we achieved record second quarter revenues and earnings per share, with cash flow generation well ahead of our expectations," said Michael J. Long, president and CEO.

Global components sales of $3.26 billion increased 44 percent year over year. Global enterprise computing solutions sales increased 21 percent to $1.35 billion.

For the first six months, profit was $203.2 million on sales of $8.85 billion, compared with profit of $47.8 million on sales of $6.81 billion in the first six months of 2009.
