Lawson Products has seen sales and profitability weakness, due to operational issues related to ERP implementation in late 2011 and weakness in the government segment. In the first quarter 2012, the distributor reported sales were down and the distributor had a net loss of $1.8 million. Thomas Neri, president and CEO, said: "While the first-quarter results were disappointing, I am pleased that we have made progress in resolving many of our ERP-related operational issues. Our focus is now on strengthening our customer relationships and engaging our sales force in restoring sales momentum." Over the past couple of years, Lawson Products has instituted several initiatives, including a new SAP system, a reorganized sales force, a new pricing model, an upgraded website and an optimized network.
