Bossard 2009 Sales Fall 30.2%

Swiss fasteners distributor sees fourth quarter sales decline 24.5% year over year.

Swiss fasteners distributor Bossard reported fourth quarter sales were CHF 95.2 million (US$93.7 million), down 24.5% from fourth quarter a year ago. In local currencies, sales decreased by 20.7%.

In the 2009 business year, Bossard Group reached total sales of CHF 395 million (US$388.9 million), a year-over-year decline of 30.2%. In local currencies sales fell by 28.6%.

Although fourth quarter European sales of CHF 54.6 million (US$53.8 million) were 20.6% lower than the prior year, they reached the same level as in the third quarter of 2009. Total European sales for 2009 were CHF 224.5 million (US$221 million), down 32.7%.

Sales in North America dropped in the fourth quarter from US$34.6 million to US$22.8 million, a decrease of 34.2%. Total sales in North America for 2009 were US$102 million, 29.4% lower than in the prior year.

In Asia, fourth quarter sales were CHF 17.6 million (US$17.3 million), a year-over-year increase of 3.3%. Compared to third quarter, sales were up by almost 14%. For the entire year, sales in Asia totaled CHF 59.9 million (US$59 million), down 20.9%.
