About the Speakers

Steve Epner

Steve Epner became hooked on computers after writing his first program at the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1965. Since then he has learned that no matter how much technology you apply, you must solve real business problems to succeed.

In 1976, Steve Epner founded his own consulting company, User Group, Inc. and recently completed the sale of it to Brown Smith Wallace, a financial accounting and advisory firm based in St. Louis. He founded the Independent Computer Consultants Association, was a founding member of the EDI Coalition of Associations and he created the Distribution Solutions Council.

Steve earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Purdue University in 1970. In May of 2007, he earned a Master of Science from the Purdue University College of Technology. That fall, he was appointed the Innovator in Residence at Saint Louis University. Steve is a member of the Advisory Board for the Industrial Distribution Program at Purdue. He is a member of the faculty for the University of Industrial Distribution and for the Manufacturers Representatives Education and Research Foundation at Arizona State University. Steve is a member of the Graduate School of Business faculty and part of the Center for Supply Chain Management Studies at Saint Louis University. Steve also teaches in the Entrepreneurship Program in the undergraduate program at Webster University. Steve has published over 900 articles, authored or coauthored 8 books and has made over 400 professional presentations.

Doug Johnson

As Vice President of Marketing and Business Development, Doug Johnson has over 15 years of experience bringing software applications and products to market for well established companies such as AT&T, Parallels, and Teleglobe as well as start-up companies such as GigaMedia Access and The Global TeleXchange. While at Parallels, Mr. Johnson successfully marketed web-based control panels to provide business operations support to the hosting industry. Prior to joining Parallels he marketed security software at GigaMedia Access and delivered launched cutting edge services such as packet-based telephony and international callback at AT&T and Teleglobe.

Mr. Johnson has an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from Duke University and a MBA from the Stern School of Business at New York University.
