September Housing Starts Fall 10.2% from August

Housing starts in September were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1,191,000, 10.2% below the revised August estimate and 30.8% below the revised September 2006 rate.
 
Single-family housing starts were 1.7% below the August rate.

Housing units authorized by building permits in September were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 934,000 were 7.3% below the revised August rate and 25.9% below the revised September 2006 rate.
 
Single-family authorizations were 7.1% below the August rate.
 
Housing completions in September were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1,391,000, 8.2% below the revised August estimate and 31.1% below the September 2006 rate.
 
Single-family completions were 11.6% below the August rate.
