I’m moderating a free webcast Thursday (sponsored by Epicor) at 1 pm Eastern with Chuck Emery, a founder of consulting group Lean Quest. I hope you’ll join us. His presentation in our program will provide the core principles of Lean, as well as a framework for helping organizations improve process. It will be a combination of key concepts, including management and leadership requirements, as well as some nuts and bolts examples of an implementation for a warehouse – a great starting point for building a Lean program throughout all departments of a distribution organization.

His simple definition of Lean is really what every distributor is hoping to do coming out of this past recession: Deliver the most value from the customer’s perspective, while consuming the fewest resources. Chuck will also share what separates high-performing companies from traditional or average organizations – managing processes instead of people and results.
Chuck has a long history working with companies on lean projects. He worked for 16 years with Toyota, where he acted as an internal consultant for the Service Parts Logistics Division. Among other projects, he managed the design and development of a warehouse management system for Toyota’s largest DCs in the world, fully integrating Lean methods. More recently, he has worked with large and diverse distribution networks for companies like Caterpillar, General Motors, Chrysler-Mopar and Parker Hannifin.
