We present the Top 40 Industrial distributors, Top 25 Electrical distributors and Top 10s in Building Materials , HVAC/PVF/Plumbing, and Power Transmission/Bearing. We also present the largest distributors in electronics, fluid power, fasteners, gases/welding equipment, plastics, pharmaceuticals and safety.
This year, we refined the lists this year to as accurately as possible reflect North American revenues where they are clearly broken out by global distributors. We also added distributors that were excluded last year, including fluid power distributor SunSource.
When we compile these lists our goal is to provide an accurate picture of distribution in each sector. This has its challenges of course, as not all distributors are willing to divulge their revenues to MDM. We use several resources to estimate where to place these companies on the list. This is the most comprehensive report in the wholesale distribution industry; we used the interviews we conduct throughout the year, as well as insight we collect leading up to the publication of this report, to compile the 2011 MDM Market Leaders and Distribution Landscape Report.
