"Rutland was a great fit," MSC COO Erik Gershwind said in a recent interview with MDM. "It extends our lead in the metalworking space – our core business – and it is a great example of our systematic approach to growth."
That "systematic approach" includes a keen focus on expansion in the West Coast markets – an area prime for growth, according to Gershwind.
What it doesn't include right now is global expansion. "The opportunity abroad will be an important part of our long-term story," said David Sandler, president and CEO. "It's really just a matter of timing.
"We still see a tremendous growth opportunity in the U.S."
