VWR International Acquires OMNILAB AG

VWR International, LLC, West Chester, PA, global laboratory supply distributor, has acquired OMNILAB AG, a Swiss scientific laboratory supply distributor in Mettmenstetten near Zurich.
 
OMNILAB is one of Switzerland's largest independent suppliers of laboratory equipment and consumables. It serves the biotechnology, pharmaceutical and industrial scientific market segments. OMNILAB's core business of supplying instrumentation, consumables and services complements VWR's local expertise in chemicals, consumables and life science products.
 
The acquisition supports VWR's growth in Western Europe.

United Rentals Acquires Portland U-Rent-It

United Rentals, Inc., Greenwich, CT, has acquired Portland U-Rent-It, Inc., a privately held industrial-oriented rental company, with sales of $11 million, Corpus Christi, TX.
 
Michael Kneeland, CEO of United Rentals, said: The acquisition of U-RENT-IT is consistent with our strategic focus on the industrial marketplace. We are actively pursuing growth in industrial rentals, where our depth of resources and branch footprint can give us a competitive advantage. Moreover, industrial rentals are subject to different cyclical pressures than the construction market, where we are seeing demand continue to soften as spending is curtailed."

Eaton Acquires Integrated Hydraulics

Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corp., Cleveland, OH, has acquired Integ Holdings Ltd., the parent company of Integrated Hydraulics Ltd., a U.K. manufacturer of screw-in cartridge valves, custom-engineered hydraulic valves and manifold systems.
 
This acquisition expands the geographic presence of Eaton's hydraulics business, enhances its current hydraulic product portfolio and helps us become a more significant partner for European customers,"said William R. VanArsdale, president -Eaton's Hydraulics Business. The company employs approximately 290 people.

Danfoss to Combine North America Heating Divisions

Danfoss, Inc., Toronto, Ontario, will be combining its North America Heating divisions into one division with headquarters in Toronto and Baltimore, MD. The merger will take advantage of the synergies between the two divisions allowing a full offering of heating products and solutions that to benefit manufacturing reps, distributors and the end user.
 
Lyle Moroz, current Vice President of the Danfoss Electric Heating Division, will be promoted to Vice President of the newly combined Heating Division.

Activant Taps New Distrbution Group Leader

Software provider Activant Solutions Inc. has announced that two executives have joined the company in newly-created executive vice president roles. Kevin Roach will lead Activant's Wholesale Distribution group out of Yardley, PA, and Paul Salsgiver will head up the Hardlines and Lumber group in from Livermore, CA.
 
Both executives bring strong experience leading and growing Global 1000 companies as well as deep understanding of the vertical software industry.
