The Home Depot, Atlanta, GA, has entered into a definitive agreement to purchase Your 'other' Warehouse, Baton Rouge, LA, a plumbing distributor, with a focus on special order fulfillment.
'Adding Your 'other' Warehouse to the Home Depot family of businesses adds several valuable supports to our leadership position in home improvement,' said Bob Nardelli, president and CEO of The Home Depot. 'Their operation is clearly best-in-class and in combination with our Apex Supply operations, will establish us as a leader in the wholesale plumbing industry.
'In addition to their existing business, we expect to gain efficiencies by leveraging their expertise in distribution across all Home Depot stores, which will improve execution for our customers. This acquisition greatly enhances our position in the market, while adding room to expand and provide great products and services.'
In addition to its other customers, Your 'other' Warehouse presently supplies two divisions of The Home Depot as well as the EXPO Design Centers with some special order plumbing products. Following the close of the transaction, Your 'other' Warehouse will begin supporting additional Home Depot operations across the country. Your 'other' Warehouse will report to Lynn Martineau, president of New Growth Business, along with Apex Supply, Georgia Lighting, Maintenance Warehouse and Villager's Hardware.
Tom Bromley, president of Your 'other' Warehouse will continue as president of the organization, reporting to Martineau. Founded in 1978, The Home Depot is the world's largest home improvement specialty retailer and the third largest retailer in the United States, with fiscal 2000 sales of $45.7 billion. The company employs approximately 250,000 associates and has 1267 stores in 48 states, Puerto Rico, seven Canadian provinces, Mexico, Chile and Argentina.
