Miller Bearings, Inc., Orlando, FL, has acquired the assets of Horizon Industrial Supplies, Inc. of Lake City, FL. The acquisition will represent Miller's 17th location in Florida. Horizon Industrial was founded in 1982. The regional company has sold conveyor components, industrial supplies and fasteners. Founded in 1947, Miller Bearings is a distributor of bearings, motors, power transmission components and motion contol devices. The new Miller location will retain the well-established name of Horizon Industrial Supplies and will be managed by the original principals, Greg Pittman and Roger Ratliff.
The RG Group, York, PA, has acquired Van-Air & Hydraulics, Inc., Maple Shade, NJ. Van-Air & Hydraulics, a fluid power/motion control distributor in the New Jersey and Philadelphia region for 40 years, has a broad base of customers and reputation for application assistance, product inventory and system fabrication. Through the RG Group, Van-Air will expand its manufacturing capabilities to provide customers with custom sub-assemblies, custom built power units, pneumatic and hydraulic repair and field service and a full array of turn-key solutions. Van-Air will continue to sell and market under its original name.
Masthead Hose & Supply, Orange Park, FL, has purchased Florida Rubber Company, Jacksonville, FL. Florida Rubber president Tom Tinsley will join the Masthead team as branch manager of the location. With a large mobile service fleet dedicated to on-site hose replacement and service, Masthead has grown to be Florida's largest hose supplier and hose service company, with six locations in Florida and six additional locations in Georgia, South Carolina, Indiana and Texas.ﾠFlorida Rubber was founded in 1947.
Prophet 21, Yardley, PA, has acquired Faspac Systems, Inc., a provider of enterprise software and services for fastener distributors and manufacturers for more than 20 years. Faspac has about 280 fastener distributors as customers - the majority located in the U.S., with several in Canada and Great Britain. These customers will join Prophet 21's customer base as Faspac Systems and Prophet 21 will combine to form into a single entity called Prophet 21. Faspac Systems' products and services will be supported, marketed, and sold by Prophet 21. April U.S. machine tool consumption totaled $169.57 million, according to the American Machine Tool Distributors' Association and the Association For Manufacturing Technology. This total, as reported by companies participating in the USMTC program, was down 2.1% from March and down 1.3% from the total of $171.83 million reported for April 2002. With a year-to date total of $584.66 million, 2003 is down 16.7% compared to the same period in 2002.
