Monthly Wholesale Trade: Sales and Inventories for January 2004

January 2004 sales of merchant wholesalers, after adjustment for seasonal variations and trading-day differences but not for price changes, were $253.1 billion, up 0.6 percent from the revised December level and were up 7.6 percent from the January 2003 level.
The December preliminary estimate was revised upward $1.3 billion or 0.5 percent. January sales of durable goods increased 0.2 percent from last month and were up 8.8 percent from a year ago.
Compared to last month, sales of computer and computer peripheral equipment and software increased 4.9 percent, while motor vehicle and motor vehicle parts and supplies decreased 6.6 percent. January sales of nondurable goods were up 1.0 percent from last month and were up 6.5 percent from last year. ...
