Research outlines effective practices to manage supply chains

Large companies are more inclined today to blow up their supply chains, rather than just tweak them, according to researchers at the University of Denver and sponsored by ProLogis, the global provider of distribution facilities and services. Among the findings were ten major themes, which form the foundation for a five-part series of research reports that outline major challenges faced by senior supply chain executives.
Researchers interviewed 31 companies, 28 publicly traded, with average revenues of $18 billion. Roughly 45% of those interviewed are manufacturers, 30% wholesalers, and 25% specialty retailers. Companies recognized as supply chain innovators were targeted.
