Commentary: Lean is not bad, but distributors can do better

What's the next big thing for distribution? Please tell me that it isn't lean. Distributors don't need a retread of the last big thing for manufacturers and purchasers. If you aren't lean after the diet of the past few years, here are a few explanations and observations: your competitors are asleep, your distributor friends are really jealous, and your customers are kinder and gentler than what 99% of distributors are experiencing today. You are also a prime target for the next round of merger and acquisition activity heating up this year.
