Alfa Laval Sales Up 12% in 2Q

Swedish manufacturer Alfa Laval (STO: ALFA) reported sales for the second quarter of SEK 8.4 billion (US$1.2 billion), a 12 percent increase over the same period a year ago. Profit increased 23.6 percent to SEK 796 million (US$116.6 million).

For the first six months, sales for the manufacturer were SEK 15 billion (US$2.2 billion), an increase of 7 percent compared to the same period in 2012. Profit was SEK 1.4 billion (US$205 million).

“Process technology saw a sequential upturn, driven by a very strong development for the base business,” said Lars Renström, president and CEO. “At the same time, the order intake for marine and diesel increased substantially, also excluding Frank Mohn AS, among other things due to a strong demand for boilers, that resulted in several larger orders during the quarter. Equipment saw a seasonally positive development and a strong demand from the food and beverage industry.”
