September 27, 2006
The Home Rubber Company, Trenton, NJ, has acquired Ivanhoe Rubber Company, Tullytown, PA, whose customer base is focused on rubber molders and OEM accounts throughout the country.
"Our partnership with Home Rubber makes sense on every level," says Ivanhoe chief Richard Dobuski. "I've concentrated on high-end, highly technical and mill spec compounds for the past 15 years and Home Rubber has concentrated on filling the specialty niche in the mechanical goods market."
Ivanhoe will continue to operate from Tullytown until the end of the year when it will unite with Home Rubber at Home Rubber's 65,000-square-foot facility in Trenton, NJ.
Home Rubber Company has also celebrated in 125th year. Founded in 1881 by the Stokes family, Home Rubber started out manufacturing transmission belts, garden hoses, bicycle tires and rain gear. Home Rubber transitioned into a specialty manufacturer in the 1940s choosing to become a niche player. The company was acquired in 1996 by Richard Balka with a group of partners. Recently, Balka completed his buy-out of the last remaining partner and his acquisition of Ivanhoe is the first in the company's long history.
