General Cable Corp. (NYSE: BGC), Highland Heights, KY, reported sales for the second quarter ended July 1 of $990 million, a year-over-year decline of 11.1 percent. The manufacturer reported a profit of $29.5 million for the quarter, compared to year-ago loss of $6.9 million.
For the first six months, sales were $2 billion, a year-over-year decline of 14 percent. The company reported a profit for the period of $25.1 million, compared to a year-ago loss of $45 million.
