Emerson (NYSE: EMR), St. Louis, MO, reported sales for the fiscal second quarter of $3.57 billion, down slightly from the prior-year quarter. Profit decreased 20.8 percent to $292 million.

For the second quarter industrial automation sales decreased 3.5 percent and commercial and residential solutions sales increased 5 percent.

For the first six months of the fiscal year, sales were $6.7 billion, down 2 percent from the prior-year period. Profit decreased 16 percent to $601 million.
