Georgia-Pacific, Atlanta, GA, has formed Point A Center for Supply Chain Innovation, which will open this June.
The center, which will occupy 15,000 square feet in Atlanta’s TechSquare Labs, will provide a collaborative space where multinational companies, start-ups and academic institutions can develop new supply chain solutions. Georgia-Pacific is investing between $5 million and $7 million in the center and has already begun recruiting members. Distributors W.W. Grainger and Genuine Parts Co., parent of industrial distributor Motion Industries, are among the first members. Chick-fil-A, Delta Air Lines, Siemens, and Georgia-Pacific’s parent company Koch Industries, have also signed on.
Point A's members will explore use cases for applying Industry 4.0 innovations, including robotics, artificial intelligence, blockchain, machine learning and autonomous vehicles, among others, to tackle some of the supply chain's most pressing challenges, including retail models, network efficiency and data visibility.
