The Conference Board Employment Trends Index decreased in May after five consecutive monthly gains. The index now stands at 107.69, down from 108 in April. The change represents a 3.9 percent gain in the ETI compared to a year ago.
The monthly decline follows rapid increases in the ETI in recent months. Gad Levanon, The Conference Board’s chief economist, North America, said the group expects solid job growth to continue despite difficulty in filling job openings.
