Ferguson Enterprises and Wolseley Canada sell plumbing supplies, PVF, HVACR, waterworks and industrial supplies, as well as kitchen, bath and lighting, and safety and fire protection products. Sales grew 8.4 percent in the U.S. and 4.5 percent in Canada for 2012. These markets were the bright spots for parent company Wolseley plc, whose other markets are primarily in Europe. Wolseley’s overall like-for-like sales in 2012 were up 3.8 percent.
Wolseley’s fiscal year ended July 31, 2012. In the first half of fiscal 2013, which ended Jan. 31, 2013, Ferguson sales were up 8.3 percent and Wolseley Canada sales increased 2.3 percent on a like-for-like basis, still ahead of Wolseley’s overall 2.2 percent sales increase worldwide.
Ferguson has increased its focus on its showroom business over the past few years, targeting consumers with its marketing message for lighting, bath and kitchen products. It added regional lighting business development managers to the Ferguson lighting team in 2012, indicating increased focus in that area for the distributor.
