HD Supply reported a $1.2 billion loss for fiscal 2012, largely due to its debt payoff. The biggest recent news for HD Supply is that it has commenced its IPO, the proceeds of which will be used to pay off that debt. But in the year leading up to that, the distributor has divested a number of businesses, including its industrial PVF business, which it sold to Shale-Inland Holdings in 2012.
HD Supply expanded some of its other business units over the past year. White Cap Construction Supply opened a new headquarters and regional offices, as well as new branches in the east and southeast and in Texas; White Cap also released an expanded catalog. HD Supply merged its electrical and utilities businesses under HD Supply Power Solutions, which expanded in Texas, North Carolina and Utah. HD Supply Waterworks acquired Oklahoma-based Water Products. Also in 2012, HD Supply acquired Peachtree Business Products.
