Industrial PVF and supplies distributor MRC Global highlighted its efforts more services for its customers in 2015. These services include inventory management and mobile inventory systems that allow the products to be moved closer to the customer worksites.
The other theme for MRC in 2014 was global expansion. The distributors reached $873 million in annual revenues from international markets, which now comprise 15 percent of the business. The company acquired MSD Engineering Limited in Singapore and Metron Holding AS in Norway in 2014.
The steep decline in oil prices and slowed activity in the shale plays in the U.S., however, have provided a more challenging environment since the beginning of 2015. Revenue from upstream customers has fallen dramatically, leading the company to focus on midstream and downstream customers.
