HD Supply continued to refine its execution strategy in 2016 and the first half of 2017. The diversified distributor became less diversified as it continued its string of unit sell-offs. HD Supply sold its Interior Solutions division to private equity-owned Interior Specialists Inc. in April of 2016 and announced in June of this year that it would sell its waterworks business to Clayton, Dubilier & Rice. These moves bring the company's "core leadership lines of business" down to just two.
Even as it made these major cuts, the company also invested in growth during the year. In June of last year, HD Supply announced that work had begun on its new national headquarters in Atlanta, GA. The 222,500-square-foot Leadership Development Center is scheduled to open in 2018.
The company also focused on strengthening its facilities maintenance business in 2016, announcing that management of that line would be moved from San Diego, CA, to corporate headquarters in Atlanta to integrate it more with the rest of the business.
