With the eyes of the U.S. tuned to the results of Nov. 8’s midterm elections, the National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors released a statement on Nov. 9 summarizing its reaction to the numerous races to determine whether Democrats keep their slim majorities in the House and Senate or if Republicans would seize control.

Washington, D.C.-based NAW released the following statement from CEO Eric Hoplin in response to the initial results of the elections:

“Yesterday at the polls the voters made clear they are tired of the political leaders from both sides of the aisle who are focused on the grievances from past political fights. The mandate is clear – now is the time to turn the page on the past and elevate forward-looking leaders who are committed to governing in a bipartisan manner on issues that actually matter to the country.  Wholesaler-distributors are calling on all branches of government to use the new balance of power as an opportunity to work together and enact policies that will strengthen the economy and help American businesses thrive.”

“We look forward to working with new and returning members in the 118th Congress next year on a wide variety of issues that are facing our industry and our nation,” added NAW Chief Government Relations Officer Jade West. “In a time of economic hardship and uncertainty, we will work with members across the political spectrum to protect NAW members and advocate for the interests of the wholesale distribution industry here in Washington.”
