Bunzl plc, the UK-based international distribution and outsourcing group, has acquired Brazil-based Dental Sorria Ltda and California-based Earthwise Bag Company Inc. The company has also agreed to acquire Bursa Pazari İnşaat Sanayi ve Ticaret AS, based in Turkey. Terms were not disclosed.
The acquisition of Dental Sorria, with 2015 sales of R$29.2 million (US$7.3 million), has expanded Bunzl’s operations in Brazil to the dental supplies sector.
Earthwise Bag Company, with 2015 sales of $18 million, supplies reusable bags to supermarkets and other retailers in the U.S. The acquisition has expanded Bunzl's offering of environmentally friendly products to the grocery and retail sectors.
Bursa Pazari İnşaat Sanayi ve Ticaret AS, with 2015 sales of TRY131 million (US$44.3 million), is principally engaged in the sale of packaging and other foodservice supplies and disposable gloves to wholesalers, retailers and hospitals throughout Turkey and also exports products to countries overseas. The acquisition will extend Bunzl's operations in Turkey.
Bunzl also reported sales for 2015 of £6.5 billion (US$9.1 billion), up 5.4 percent from the same period a year ago. The company acquired 22 businesses in 2015.
