International building materials group CRH plc, Dublin, Ireland, has agreed to acquire cement manufacturer Ash Grove Cement Co., Overland Park, KS, for $3.5 billion.
Ash Grove operates eight cement plants across eight states, combined with extensive ready mixed concrete, aggregates and associated logistics assets across the Midwest. The company reported profit before tax in 2016 of $215 million.
