Charlotte, NC-based automotive shop equipment distributor Universal Distribution Group was acquired by private equity firm Brixey & Meyer Capital.
Terms were not disclosed, but UDG founder and operator Josh Lyerly will maintain an ownership interest and remain in a leadership position within the company.

UDG is a provider of aftermarket automotive shop equipment, offering sales, installation and technical field service. Serving dealerships, municipalities and independent repair shops, UDG delivers complete equipment solutions. The company’s field team specializes in preventive maintenance, inspections and repairs for lifts, air compressors, A/C recovery systems, wheel alignment tools and more.
“The partnership with UDG is a natural fit,” BMC CEO Patrick Nichol said in a June 13 news release. “We’re excited to bring UDG’s heavy-duty capabilities into our platform while offering its customers expanded collision repair solutions. Together, we’re elevating our value proposition and delivering complete solutions across the market.”

UDG is the third investment in Cincinnati-based BMC’s aftermarket automotive equipment platform, following the October 2024 acquisitions of Professional Maintenance & Equipment and Smith Equipment Solutions in Eastern North Carolina. BMS said UDG extends its footprint into North Carolina, South Carolina and Southern Virginia.
