The Institute for Supply Management announced the departure of Timothy Fiore, who has served as chair of ISM’s Manufacturing Business Survey Committee since 2017.

Susan Spence will take over the role in June 2025, succeeding Fiore. She will lead the Manufacturing ISM Report on Business (known commonly as the Manufacturing PMI), write the monthly report and act as the official spokesperson for the ISM Manufacturing Business Survey Committee.

Spence previously served as VP of FedEx Corp.’s Sourcing & Procurement group since October 2013, leading 250 staff managing $25 billion in global spending, systems and policies. She retired in July 2023 and now serves on advisory boards and speaks on supply chain topics.

Before FedEx, Spence spent 28 years at United Technologies Corporation in leadership roles across its aerospace divisions, including Pratt & Whitney, Hamilton Sundstrand and Sikorsky Aircraft. Her work focused on supply management, operations and process improvement.
