Atlas Copco Buys Germany-Based Arpuma

Atlas Copco’s newest addition is a specialized vacuum systems and solutions provider for the chemical and pharmaceutical industry.
Swedish industrial manufacturer Atlas Copco says acquisition of Eugen Theis GmbH will expand presence in Germany.

Swedish industrial manufacturer Atlas Copco announced it has struck a deal to buy ARPUMA regel- und fördertechnische Geräte GmbH, which is known as Arpuma.

Arpuma, which is based in Kerpen, near Cologne in Germany, is a specialized vacuum systems and solutions provider for the chemical and pharmaceutical industry. Arpuma has 14 employees, and the company serves large chemical process customers. While most of Arpuma’s customers are in Germany, its systems are installed globally.

“This acquisition will enable us to grow our systems and solutions business within the chemical and pharmaceutical industry,” said Atlas Copco’s Geert Follens, business area president for vacuum technique. “The company’s core competence is in customer consulting, application knowledge and system integration.”

The financial details of the deal, which is expected to close in latter half of 2Q,  weren’t available. Once the deal closes, Arpuma will become part of the industrial vacuum division within the vacuum technique business sector.

Atlas Copco, which is a global industrial group that was founded in 1873 in Stockholm, has been on a buying spree of late. Last month it closed a deal to buy MidState Air Compressor, which is a Berlin, Connecticut-based distributor of compressors as well as buying a majority share in Eco Steam and Heating Solutions.
