FedEx Freight Names New President, CEO

John A. Smith to lead FedEx subsidiary effective August 16.

FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX), Memphis, TN, has named John A. Smith president and CEO of FedEx Freight effective August 16.

Smith is currently senior vice president of operations at FedEx Freight, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. He will succeed Michael L. Ducker, who announced his retirement in April.

The company also named Matthew Thornton III executive vice president and chief operating officer of FedEx Freight. Thornton currently serves as senior vice president of U.S. operations for FedEx Express.
