Avnet Names New Board Chairman

Rodney C. Adkins succeeds William H. Schumann III, who will remain as a board member.

Avnet Inc. (NYSE: AVT), Phoenix, AZ, has elected Rodney C. Adkins chairman of its board of directors.

Adkins has been an Avnet board member since 2015. He succeeds William H. Schumann III, who has served as board chairman since 2012, has been a director since 2010 and will remain on the company’s board, Avnet said.

The distributor also said it has elected Brenda Freeman to the board and that J. Veronica Biggins has retired. Freeman is chief marketing officer at Magic Leap, a private company focused on virtual retinal displays. Biggins joined the Avnet board in 1997 and has served on the audit and compensation committees and was chairperson of the corporate governance committee, the company said.
