Huttig’s Sales Up 13%

Increase in residential construction drives growth.

Building materials distributor Huttig Building Products Inc. (NASDAQ: HBP), St. Louis, MO, reported sales of $198 million for the first quarter of 2018, a 13 percent increase over the prior-year period. The company reported a loss of $0.5 million for the quarter compared to a loss of $0.9 million in the first quarter of 2017.

The first-quarter sales increase was due mainly to an 8 percent increase in new residential construction activity as well as growth derived from executing its strategies, the company said.
