Industrial gases distributor Praxair Inc., Danbury, CT, said it has completed a new plant at its Geismar, LA, facility, increasing carbon monoxide supply to customers in the local area.

The plant incorporates a new carbon monoxide purification train with more than 13 million cubic feet per day of capacity, the company said. The facility is part of a larger investment the company has made in Louisiana and the U.S. Gulf Coast and leverages proprietary technologies to improve the overall efficiency of the site and maintain its long-term reliability and competitiveness, the company also said.

Carbon monoxide is essential in manufacturing a variety of products, including polyurethane precursors and other specialty chemicals.
