Snap-on Inc. (NYSE: SNA), Kenosha, WI, reported sales for the third quarter of $711.6 million, an increase of 2.1 percent over the same period a year ago. Organic sales increased 4.6 percent. Profit rose 9.3 percent to $74.1 million.

Commercial & Industrial Group segment sales of $280.4 million increased 0.8 percent from 2011. Snap-on Tools Group segment sales of $308.8 million in the quarter rose 10.4 percent year-over-year. Repair Systems & Information Group segment sales were $222 million, slightly lower than 2011 levels.
For the first nine months, sales for the manufacturer were $2.2 billion, a 3.2 percent improvement over the 2011 comparable period. Profit increased 9.7 percent to $227.9 million.
