Electrical distributor Anixter International Inc. (NYSE: AXE), Glenview, IL, reported sales for the second quarter of $2 billion, a 2 percent increase year-over-year. Profit increased 93 percent to $40.1 million. Organic sales increased 2.6 percent year-over-year.

Network & Security Solutions (NSS) sales decreased 0.8 percent to $1 billion. Electrical & Electronic Solutions (EES) sales increased 0.3 percent to $561.5 million. And Utility Power Solutions (UPS) sales increased 15.8 percent to $410.5 million.

Year-to-date sales were $3.9 billion, up 3 percent over the prior-year period. Profit decreased 61 percent to $71 million.
