Arrow Electronics Inc. (NYSE: ARW), Englewood, CO, No. 2 on MDM's list of the top electronics distributors, reported 2012 sales of $20.4 billion, a 4.6 percent decline from 2011. Profit fell 15.4 percent to $506.3 million.
Fourth-quarter sales were $5.4 billion, a 0.7 percent decrease compared to the same period a year earlier. Profit increased 0.3 percent to $174.7 million.
Global components fourth-quarter sales were $3.2 billion, a decrease of 7.5 percent year-over-year. Sales in the Asia-Pacific region increased 7 percent, driven by strong growth in China and the ASEAN region. In the Americas, sales declined 6 percent. European sales fell 20 percent in local currency.
Global enterprise computing solutions fourth-quarter sales were $2.2 billion, an increase of 11 percent year-over-year. On a global basis, ECS delivered double-digit year-over-year growth in storage, software and services. In the Americas, sales growth was at the midpoint of normal seasonality in the core value-added distribution business. In Europe, sales were at the high end of normal seasonality in local currency, with strength across all regions.
