Atlas Copco (STO: ATCOA, ATCOB), Stockholm, Sweden, reported sales for the third quarter were SEK 20.7 billion (US$3.13 billion), up 17 percent over the same period a year ago. Organically, sales increased 21 percent. Profit increased 33 percent to SEK 3.6 billion (US$546 million).

For the first nine months, sales were SEK 58.9 billion (US$8.9 billion), up 17 percent over the same period a year ago. Organically, sales grew 25 percent. Profit improved 37 percent to SEK 9.6 billion (US$1.5 billion).
\”Our performance in the third quarter was very strong and we achieved good growth figures, especially in the United States and China,\” says Ronnie Leten, president and CEO. \”Since July we have been operating with four business areas and have already started adapting the structure of some customer centers, which will help us drive organic growth.\”
Atlas Copco recently announced four acquisitions, including SCA Schucker, a Germany-based manufacturer of adhesive equipment.
