Atlas Copco, Stockholm, Sweden, reported sales for the second quarter of SEK 23.4 billion (US$3.3 billion), a 17 percent increase over the same period a year ago. Organic sales increased 9 percent. Profit increased 21 percent to SEK 3.61 billion (US$516.1 million).

Orders received increased 5 percent to SEK 23.2 billion (US$3.3 billion).
For the first six months, sales were SEK 45.6 billion (US$6.5 billion), a 20 percent increase year-over-year. Organic sales increased 14 percent. Profit increased 17 percent to SEK 7 billion (US$1 billion).
On June 30, 2012, the company employed 39,332 people and had an external workforce of 2,225, a total workforce increase of 3.2 percent from Dec. 31, 2011.
