HD Supply Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: HDS), Atlanta, GA, reported sales for the first quarter ended May 4, 2014, of $2.2 billion, an increase of 5.5 percent year-over-year. The company reported a loss of $12 million for the quarter, compared to net loss of $131 million in the first quarter the previous year.
“I am pleased with our solid performance this quarter, despite the adverse impact of the severe weather we experienced throughout February and March," said CEO Joe DeAngelo. "We remain cautiously optimistic that our end markets will continue to build on the emerging strength that we are seeing in select geographies.”
First-quarter sales for the Facilities Maintenance division were up 8 percent to $604 million. Sales for the Waterworks division were up 5 percent to $551 million, while Power Solutions Sales declined less than 1 percent to $461 million for the quarter.
First-quarter sales for the White Cap division were up 11 percent to $344 million.
