Hexcel Corp. (NYSE: HXL), Stamford, CT, reported second-quarter sales of $305.1 million, an increase of 10 percent over second quarter 2009. Profit improved 37.5 percent to $23.1 million.

For the first six months, sales for the advanced composites company were $568.1 million, down 2.8 percent from the same period a year ago. Profit fell 3.2 percent to $38.9 million.
Total Industrial sales of $64.7 million for the second quarter of 2010 were flat (3.9% higher in constant currency) compared to last year and up 68% sequentially due to the first quarter wind energy inventory correction.
Commercial aerospace sales of $161 million increased 16.8 percent (18.1% in constant currency) for the quarter as compared to the second quarter 2009. Space & Defense sales of $79.4 million increased by 6.3% (7.6% in constant currency).
