Hexcel Corp. (NYSE: HXL), Stamford, CT, reported sales for the second quarter of $491.3 million, a 6 percent decrease over the same period a year ago. Profit decreased 6.8 percent to $61.6 million.
Industrial sales were $54.5 million for the second quarter, down 24.6 percent year-over-year. Commercial aerospace sales of $349 million decreased 5.3 percent for the quarter and space and defense sales of $87.8 million increased 7.3 percent compared to the same period a year ago.
For the first six months, sales were $970.1 million, down 4.9 percent from the same period a year ago. Profit increased 3.4 percent to $126.2 million.
