Kaman Agrees to Acquire Western Fluid Components

Western is a full-line distributor for Parker Hannifins fluid connector group.

Kaman Industrial Technologies, the distribution segment of Kaman Corp. (NYSE: KAMN), Bloomfield, CT, has agreed to acquire Western Fluid Components Inc., Everett, WA, to expand its fluid power position in the Northwest. Western is a full-line distributor for Parker Hannifin’s fluid connector group. Terms were not disclosed.

Western, with annual sales of $11 million, operates from four Washington locations in Tacoma, Kirkland, Everett and Bellingham with a team of 20 employees. Western also provides hydraulic and industrial hose assemblies, custom kits and value-added services through its four Parker Store locations and sells to a wide variety of industries including the marine, wood products, aerospace, agriculture, mobile equipment and industrial markets. The addition of Western expands Kaman’s Parker Store network to 17.

Steven Smidler, president of Kaman Distribution, said the company sees significant synergies with Western and Kaman’s acquisition of Northwest Hose & Fittings.

Neal J. Keating, president and CEO of Kaman Corp., said, “We have announced three acquisitions within our distribution segment so far this year and each meets our strategic objectives of growing our core business platforms as well as expanding our geographic footprint. We expect to remain active in building our distribution business and acquiring well run companies like Western Fluid Components.”

Kaman Industrial Technologies was ranked No. 17 on MDM’s 2013 list of top industrial distributors. The company also ranked No. 3 and No. 9 on MDM’s 2013 lists of top power transmission & bearing distributors and top fluid power distributors, respectively.
