Pentair plc (NYSE: PNR), Manchester, UK, reported third-quarter sales of $1.2 billion, a year-over-year increase of 9 percent. Profit increased 22.4 percent to $141 million.
Flow & filtration solutions sales were down 5.5 percent to $342.7 million. Water quality systems sales were up 2 percent to $328.6 million.
Technical solutions sales were $543.1 million for the quarter, up 25.6 percent year-over-year.
For the first nine months, sales were $3.7 billion, up 11.3 percent from the prior-year period. Profit increased 3.8 percent to $391.2 million.
Pentair previously announced that it entered into an agreement to sell its valves & controls business to Emerson Electric Co. for $3.2 billion. Therefore, the results of the valves & controls business have been presented as discontinued operations for all periods presented.
