Manufacturing Revival Radio talks with Paul Kuchuris, president of the Association for Manufacturing Excellence. The AME focuses on the exchange of knowledge in enterprise excellence. Their members come together to explore lean thinking and other enterprise improvement methods, exchange best practices and network to advance their careers and improve the competitiveness and overall value of their organizations.
Quality improvement is a never-ending journey, according to Kuchuris. Companies need to be continuously evaluating how they do things in order to keep improving, he says. For example, one manufacturer he recently visited recreated its plant floor with modular Legos to give all of the employees a clear "overview of what is so they can see what can be." The process highlighted how different processes were interconnected and how they could be improved.
Kuchuris offers some insights on best practices related to continuous improvement and lean manufacturing.
Kuchuris also talks about why the public has the wrong perception of manufacturing and what can be done to correct this misperception. He also looks at what's trending in manufacturing and why it matters.
